I also had the pleasure of trying a case against Meagher in front of Judge Wood in 2014 and would echo others comments in terms of him being fair, reasonable, even-tempered, letting you try your case and ruling against Chris if youve demonstrated youre in the right; which, in my case, meant denying Meaghers motion to have me held in criminal contempt for using my iPhone to take a photo of the plaintiffs expert as he was leaving the courtroom after direct exam. According to Chris, his expert was so spooked and upset by my action that he refused to return for cross-exam (he eventually did, of course, although an entire day was wasted by the contempt proceedings). As crazy and unprecedented as the situation was, Wood remained calm, handled it appropriately to protect the record for all parties and, IMHO, ruled correctly that my conduct was neither contemptuous nor criminal, while commenting that it might have displayed questionable judgment on my part.
Im unfamiliar with many of the newer judges in S/W, but Wood would be among my very top choices as a trial judge in that venue.
And, FWIW, I checked and we have absolutely nothing on Michael Kugler
